After receiving any of our treatments, it is important that the proper aftercare procedure is followed to ensure that the products are removed and your skin is cared for correctly.

Make-up Application:

If you have had a make-up application by one of our Consultants, then you must ensure that the make-up is removed before you go to sleep using the most appropriate products. This will ensure that your skin is cleaned properly and will also prevent any irritation which may be caused if the make-up is left on. It is particularly important that you remove all eye make-up as this can cause aggravation to the eye area if it left on for a prolonged period. The Consultant who treats you will give you make-up removal advice, recommend products and provide you with this information in writing, but if you have any queries before or after your treatment then please do not hesitate to contact Shimmer at any time.

Eyelash perming:

If you experience any pain or stinging during the treatment, then you must advise the Consultant immediately. After the treatment, your lashes may feel quite coarse so you may wish to apply extra moisturiser on them for as long as is necessary. It is normal to have some discomfort in the eye area after your lashes have been permed and to also have quite an obvious curl, but the discomfort should stop after a few hours and the curl should flatten slightly after a few days, particularly if you wear mascara. If you experience any pain or stinging or if the discomfort continues for a prolonged period then please contact your GP advising them of the treatment you have had. Please contact us for any further information.

Eyebrow or Eyelash tinting:

If you experience any pain or stinging during the treatment, then you must advise the Consultant immediately. After the treatment, If you experience any pain for a prolonged period then please contact your GP or NHS Direct advising them of the treatment you have had. Please contact us at for any further information.

Eyebrow shaping:

It is normal during this treatment to experience some discomfort while the hairs are being plucked. There is also likely to be a slight stinging sensation for a short while after the treatment has been completed as well as a reddening of the area which has been plucked. However, an aloe vera soothing gel will be applied which should help with this, and if the stinging sensation continues for a prolonged period then please contact your GP advising them of the treatment you have had. Please contact us at for any further information.

False eyelashes:

Where false lashes are applied, a removal lotion will be given to you to enable you to take these off without any discomfort. The lashes generally last about 48 hours so you can leave them to naturally fall out if you wish, though this may be uncomfortable if you have had strip lashes applied. It is important that you do not try to remove any false lashes without the lotion or pull them as this could cause pain and discomfort. Please contact your GP if you experience any pain or discomfort after the false lashes have been applied or after you have removed them advising them of the treatment you have had. Please contact us at Shimmer for any further information.
